A little about me...

When I began oil painting about 5 years ago, it opened up a whole new avenue of creativity for me. I love working with a limited palette and the exciting color combinations and depth that is possible from only a few colors.

The feel of the brushes in the paint, the smell of the oils and how the colors move on the canvas; the whole experience of painting is very calming to me and I am “in the moment”. The last couple of years have been difficult as I've struggled with some personal health and emotional challenges, so being calm and “in the moment” has been the medicine to help me heal. Those recent struggles have given me strength to be unafraid and to take chances with my art and other areas of my life, and I believe that resonates throughout my painting with the subject matter and color choices.

"Faith" was painted during my year of struggles and it continues to give me strength.

Artists who have inspired me are NC Wyeth, Maxfield Parrish, Monet, Cezanne, Edward Hopper, and John Singer Sargent.
